Type.
A dammed hydro electric and water supply reservoir. The Dam at Bin el Ouidane is the largest hydro electricity dam in Morocco, it was completed in 1953 and has a height of 132 m a length of 290m and for a long time it was the largest dam in Africa, holding back 1.5 million meters cubed of water.
Size.
7500 Acres approximately. The lake is fed from two sources, in the south the river Ahansal and to the east the river El Abid, the lake has a length of around 20 kms and 5km at its widest.
Carp stock.
We believe initially stocked with Carp in 1996 the quantity and size of the fish are unknown. The lake record is 31.5 kg caught in June 2007. Many larger fish have been caught by local fishermen and fish to 34kg have been witnessed in 2007.
Bin el Ouidane also has a good head of Trout (arco iris) Black Bass, Zander, Pike, Perca sol and Barbel (comizo)

Exceptional fishing and a venue that could easily turn up a World Carp record.
Restrictions.
Close season March - June.
Permits.
Only available through the organised companies operating at the lake.
Comments.
The new big fish mega water, Bin el Ouidane will be making the headlines this year and in the future. The carp are young and putting on between 2-3 kg yearly on natural food alone. Over 95% of the lake is yet to be fished.

Location.
Nearest city Beni Mellal, the lake is a four hour drive from Marrakesh or Casablanca airport in the middle Atlas mountains.
Supplies.
Nearest village 10kms from the lake and petrol 45 mins. Very difficult to manage on your own here as its high in the Middle Atlas mountains situated in a small Berber community.
